Harry Potter and the Deathly HallowsThe 21st July, 2007 sees the release of ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’, the long awaited finale of J.K. Rowling’s magical series. After the dramatic ending of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, anticipation for the release of this seventh and final instalment has been immense. While Rowling has given little away about the books outcome, or even the meaning of the title, her finale is set to detail Harry’s attempt to defeat the dark Lord Voldemort once and for all.Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will see Harry turn seventeen and come of Wizarding age, enabling him to practice magic outside of Hogwarts and to ‘legally’ apparate – both of which will be essential on his dangerous quest as he and his companions face greater challenges than they ever have before. While each of the preceding novels are based in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (the future of which remains dubious due to events that occurred in the penultimate book) this final instalment is rumoured to have a much broader setting as Harry, Ron and Hermione travel far and wide on their search to find and destroy Voldemort’s Horcruxes. It is only once each component of Voldemort’s fragmented soul has been destroyed that Harry and his companions can even hope of defeating the dark lord. Ginny Weasley is rumoured to play an important role in this last book, although whether her romance with Harry will be rekindled at the risk of providing Voldemort with emotional ammunition has yet to be seen. Additionally, after his great betrayal in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, the true loyalties of Severus Snape will be revealed and we will find out whether Dumbledore was right to trust him after all. J.K. Rowling has revealed that this final book will not be without casualties, fuelling speculating that not all of the 3 main characters will make it to the end. However, you can be sure that whatever happens to the other characters there will be a dramatic, deciding, power-filled battle between Harry and Lord Voldemort before the book reaches its conclusion. So that simply leaves the question of whether good will triumph over evil, whether Trelawney’s prophecy will be fulfilled and whether Harry and his loyal companions will be able to overcome the powers of Lord Voldemort. Fortunately, you only have to wait until the 21st July to find out. |
